Coming out of the same Dungeon Family collective that birthed OutKast, Goodie Mob played an essential part in the rise of Southern hip-hop. In particular, their 1995 debut Soul Food overflowed with all the grimness and joy of a culture that blossomed in spite of constant oppression. Jeff Weiss looks back on the album 20 years later.
